WORKSHOP I: Waste Management and Contamination Issues in Slovakia 

On 12 February 2026, Workshop No. 1 was held within the framework of the project Waste Wise: Enhancing Governance for Sustainable Waste Management, entitled "Waste Management and Contamination Issues in Slovakia."

The workshop was organized with the aim of increasing the professional knowledge of participants in the field of waste management, highlighting the main sources of environmental contamination, their ecological and health impacts, as well as presenting possibilities for prevention and effective risk management. The programme also included an analysis of real contamination incidents, identification of weaknesses in municipal and regional waste management systems, and a presentation of Slovak and European legislation in this area.

The workshop was attended by 13 public administration employees, who gained new knowledge and practical recommendations applicable to their professional practice.
