Workshop II: Inclusive Communication on Waste Management
On 17 April 2026, Workshop No. 2 was held within the framework of the project Waste Wise: Enhancing Governance for Sustainable Waste Management, entitled "Inclusive Communication on Waste Management."
The workshop was organized with the aim of improving participants' understanding of accessible and inclusive communication in the field of waste management. The programme focused on the importance of presenting information on waste collection, recycling and environmental services in a clear, understandable and user-friendly way for diverse target groups, including people with different educational, linguistic and social backgrounds.
Participants analysed real examples of municipal communication materials related to waste management and identified common barriers to effective communication, such as overly complex language, excessive information, unclear visual design and limited accessibility. The workshop also highlighted the role of inclusive communication in increasing public participation and improving environmental awareness.
A practical group activity enabled participants to design their own digital communication materials, including brochures and posters promoting waste sorting and sustainable waste management practices. Through collaborative work, participants explored how visual elements, simple language and clear messaging can contribute to more effective environmental communication.
The workshop was attended by 8 participants interested in sustainability, waste management and public communication. Participants gained practical knowledge and skills related to the design of accessible communication materials and developed a better understanding of how effective communication can support sustainable and inclusive waste governance.
